Vintage Japanese Al Mar’s are some of the most sought-after knives by collectors, and we were happy to get our hands on a couple of the most desirable models.
In this blog we showcase the Al Mar’s version of a third pattern Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife. The standard version of this knife is already rare, let alone
the presentation-grade model with a shiny brass handle and satin-finished blade.
Of this version, only 400 pieces were made, of which ours is number 182. Like most of Al Mar’s knives, this one is made in Japan by G. Sakai. Compared to the original World War 2 versions of the Fairbairn Sykes dagger, this one stands out because of its overall quality.
Being a Japanese-made Al Mar, this knife is executed with extreme care and precision: From the perfectly symmetrical dagger blade, to the precisely machined handle, this knife is what every Fairbairn Sykes dreams of being! The black leather sheath shows some slight storage wear, and the brass handle has some very slight tarnishing, but apart from that the condition is like new!
